Last week, I traveled to Alaqua Animal Refuge and spent a long and fabulous day capturing the perfect images for the next seven book covers in The Dogfather Series! First, I have to tell you that I've never experienced anything like Alaqua. The people, the critters, the landscape, the whole atmosphere of caring and love...it's thrilling. Working with Dawn Whitty, the photographer who shot the first four covers, and some of the greatest dog-loving HUNKS you'd ever want to meet, we set up shoot after shoot for the 2018 and 2019 covers. YES, I met "The Dogfather" himself - who happens to be a high school principal in North Florida who loves dogs and is an insanely good-looking silver fox! We found Rusty, his Irish setter, and Kookie, Darcy's shih tzu -- both of whom will be the dog stars of books this year. There were puppies, a fun trip to the fire station (the Mahoney cousins are firefighters, you knowl) and so many dog kisses all around! What an incredible experience...and what gorgeous covers will grace these books! Right now, I'm planning three more titles in 2018.
